Mom Battling Terminal Cancer Has Her Dying Wish Come True

A Kentucky mother who is battling terminal cancer was overwhelmed with joy when her family made her dying wish come true.

Ashley Morrow, 30, was diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach and cervical cancers two years ago. Her family did not know how much time she had left but they wanted to grant her dying wish. Which was to marry her true love of 11 years, Lionel Rodriguez.

The couple had to put wedding plans on hold when Morrow’s health started declining.

“She did a series of chemo and radiation treatments, and just recently doctors told Ashley that her cancer is spreading and there is not much they can do at this point.

“They told her you should prepare a will. You need to get everything in place. Most people want to go to Disney or do something like that and she wanted to have a wedding,” Morrow’s aunt, Stacie Stickrod, told reporters.

So her family came together to put her sickness on hold and make her final wish happen. To marry her prince charming, and not worry about dying for one day.

What makes this story just that more amazing, is that Ashley Aunt started a GoFundMe and shared her niece’s story on social media. And to their surprise, the community gave an outpouring amount of support and donations!

The dress, jewelry, food, photos, sculptures, cakes, flowers, and tuxedos were some of the things local businesses donated to the couple for their special day.

“We were truly blessed by the outpouring of love and support we received.”

The most unusual part of the wedding was cutting the cake. Photographer Chasity Watkins, of Blackbird Lee Photographer, said it was one of her favorite parts of the whole wedding.

“Yesterday was the most rewarding day by far in my photography career. I am struggling to find the words to express how beautiful and mind-blowing it was to see everyone come together to give Ashley and Lionel the wedding of their dreams. It was an absolute honor to be a part of this and I will never forget the love and emotions felt yesterday. Ashley was the most beautiful bride and Lionel was the most loving groom I have ever seen. A true love story.” He wrote in the caption of his Facebook post.

Let’s all Congratulate the happy couple by sharing their story. What a fairytale wedding it was and Ashley married her prince charming after all.
