Watch This Trip to Sam’s Club Become A Worship Service for Millions of Viewers

Michelle Connor was shopping in Sam’s Club in Dothan, Alabama one day, when she came upon someone playing one of the store’s keyboards.

The woman was playing a popular hymn, “My God Is Awesome,” and attracted the attention of other passers-by. Soon a crowd had gathered. Some began to sing. While many recorded the spontaneous worship gathering, all enjoyed the moment when the strangers came together to express joy in their faith.

An employee joined in the song as well and stunned everyone with her beautiful voice. The song went something like this:

My God is awesome, He can move mountains
Keep me in the valley, hide me from the rain
My God is awesome, heals me when I’m broken
Strength where I’ve been weakened, forever He will reign

My God is awesome, He can move mountains
Keep me in the valley, hide me from the rain

My God is awesome, heals me when I’m broken
Strength where I’ve been weakened, forever He will reign
My God is awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome
My God is awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome

Michelle Connor shared the inspirational moment on Facebook, and the video has now received over 9.5 million views!!! She wrote, “Sometimes you need a little church. Even if it’s in Sam’s Club.”

Slade Alday is a worship pastor at Fellowship Baptist Church in Brinson. He was at the Sam’s Club with other members of his church when the singing broke out. “It was impromptu,” Alday said. “The Holy Spirit just showed up in a mighty way. In this time when people can’t get along for various reasons we were all together. We were just singing praises to God.” The woman playing the keyboard was Joy Buczek, another member of Alday’s congregation.

“When we were walking around we turned the corner and there were these keyboards,” Alday said. “Like any curious musician, Joy wanted to mess around on them and started playing some songs.”

“We started singing in our little group and began having a worship time. Our eyes were closed, so we didn’t really know how many people had joined in before I looked around.”
