“I have always been true to you for seventy years. There has never been anyone else for me and there never will be, you are my sweetheart and I will be lost without you.”
Those were the words that Cayce Lucca’s grandfather whispered into her grandmother’s ear as she lay in her last moments of life, surrounded by her family on September 9th 2016.
Cayce took to Facebook exactly a year later to describe what her grandfather’s life had been like without her grandmother around. The lovely man was heartbroken to lose his spouse after 70 years of marriage. From that day on, over the past year her grandfather’s health deteriorated as he didn’t have the love of his life around to live for. He eventually became paralyzed and became unable to communicate.
Cayce and her mother were convinced that her grandfather was simply waiting for his late wife to come and take him home to God.
And on this September 9th, 2017, she did just that. Cayce’s grandfather died exactly one year to the day he lost his wife.

“My grandpa passed away this early this morning, September 9th. My mom and I were right, he was waiting for my grandma to come and take him home to God. He had been reaching out to someone for the past few days even though he was paralyzed and could no longer communicate. We had a feeling it would be today. One year ago today we lost my grandma on September 9th, 2016. Can you believe that My grandma and Grandpa passed away on the same exact day? That is true love. Not coincidence and if you say it is coincidence, you are mistaken. These things are out of the ordinary. September 9th will be a day my family never forgets. They really did pull some Notebook stuff. One year. One long year away from each other. They are finally at peace and together again. Rest in peace Grandpa. I’m so happy you are no longer heart broken.
The picture below was taken last year when my grandmother passed away. He is kissing her forehead. One whole year. Same exact day. Here are his exact words to her last year when she passed, and I know he said them again as soon as he got to Heaven this morning: “I have always been true to you for seventy years. There has never been anyone else for me and there never will be, you are my sweetheart and I will be lost without you. I loved you all of those years. I will be with you before very long. You are my only one.”
Now that is a story of true love.
